 "The pioneer of a new kind of HTPCs." This applies to the Shuttle XPC M1000, according to the editors of the German "Digital Lifestyle Magazin." No wonder that the Media Center solution from Shuttle convinced its testers thanks to the technologies it uses: "After having had a closer look at the test unit of the Shuttle XPC M1000 we were sure that this package earns our well-deserved Digital Media Award."
"PCs that are designed to ideally fit into the home theater environment and a HiFi rack," describe the editors the term Media Center PCs. "And no doubt, Shuttle has really done a great job with this little piece of jewellery," conclude the editors praising the Shuttle XPC M1000. The "dark black surface" looks similar to "black gloss piano lacquer."
"The Media Center PC from Shuttle is a fully-configured computer with Windows OS, incorporating the functionality of a PC, a DVD player, a TV receiver and a hard disk recorder without being difficult to operate." It's 1:0 for Shuttle, especially because of the "well-thought out functionality." Other "clever features" are for example the external 2.5" hard disk making it possible to transfer data quickly and without any problems. Furthermore, a 8-in-1 card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, mic-in and headphones connector complete the front panel. "There's everything you need for uncomplicated connectivity available," sum up the testers.
In addition the editors liked the "elegant and decent front panel display." The Shuttle XPC M1000 "could also score" with its "very quiet fans" and "the fast DVD player." When it came to the integrated hardware, the editors "had nothing else to complain about" either. The hard disk from Seagate, the Intel processor and the TV tuner cards contributed to the general positive positive impression.
More connectors were discovered on the rear side of the unit such as FireWire, VGA and DVI making the editors state that "fans of modern Home Theater PCs most likely won’t have any problems with these ports available."
"A big plus" of the Shuttle XPC M1000 is the included wireless keyboard. Handling was described as "very easy and intuitiv." The keyboard shining in black and silver also hosts other useful keys and a trackball as mouse "granting you comfortable access right from your sofa." From word processing, browsing the internet, chatting to video calls everything is possible right at your TV," write the editors.

"After having had a closer look at the test unit of the Shuttle XPC M1000 we were sure that this package earns our well-deserved Digital Media Award. Stylish design, flawless technologies, extensive connectivity and the extra pinch of features let us recommend this XPC. Little drawbacks prevent us from calling it perfect, but what is perfect, anyway?"
