Kleiner PC, große Leistung: Der SN85G4 ist für AMDs 64-Bit CPU Athlon 64 designt.

Hinter der edlen Schale des XPC SN85G4 steckt ein leistungsfähiges Mainboard, in dessen Sockel-754 nur AMDs erste 64-Bit-Desktop-CPU Athlon 64 passt. Ihn kühlt eine sehr effizient arbeitende Heatpipe mit 80-mm-Lüfter. Letzterer wird erst ab einer bestimmten Temperatur aktiv und ist in mehreren Stufen regelbar. Dies und zahlreiche Übertaktungsoptionen bieten Overclockern viel Spielraum. Die Raumaufteilung ist gelungen. (...) Im oberen 3,5'' Schacht, der eigentlich dem Floppylaufwerk vorbehalten ist, findet sich beim XPC SN85G4 ein 6-in-1-Cardreader. (...)

Fazit:

Shuttle's XPC SN85G4 ist ein starker Wolf im attraktiven Schafspelz mit neuester Technik. Mehr Funktion und Power auf so kleinem Raum geht momentan nicht.

Testurteil: Gut mit 84%

Obwohl Shuttle's neuer SN85G4 Barebone ziemlich klein ist, versteckt sich in ihm die Power des Athlon 64 und des nForce3 Chipsatzes. Außerdem wird man ihr neues Design einfach lieben. Also, nicht verpassen!

Ich glaube, niemand kann mir das Recht absprechen, dieses Produkt den "Marktführer auf dem heutigen Mini-PC Markt" zu nennen. Ich muß außerdem sagen, dass Shuttle wieder einmal große Arbeit geleistet hat. SN85G4 ist eine würdige Lösung, die Shuttle's Mini-PC-Konzept in rechter Weise repräsentiert. Ausgezeichnetes Aussehen, reichhaltige Funktionalität, elegantes Design und ein ausgezeichnete Kühlsystem - all diese Eigenschaften machen Shuttle SN85G4 heute zu einem großartigen Kauftipp.

Conclusions:

Although Shuttle's new SN85G4 barebone is pretty small, it hides the power of Athlon 64 and nForce3. Besides, you will simply love their new design. Don’t miss it!

I believe that I have every right to call this product the leader in the today’s SFF market. I should also say that Shuttle again did a great job. SN85G4 is a worthy solution representing the SFF PC concept by Shuttle. Excellent looks, rich functionality, smart design and excellent cooling solution, all this makes Shuttle SN85G4 a great buy today.

Shuttle XPC SN85G4: Erster Mini für Athlon 64
Während andere Hersteller noch am letzten Feinschliff ihrer Motherboards für den Athlon 64 arbeiten, hat Shuttle bereits ein entsprechendes Mini-Barebone im Angebot. In punkto Verarbeitung und Materialanmutung ist das System mit dem des XPC für die P4-Plattform vollkommen identisch. (...) Anstelle des 3,5-Zoll-Laufwerkschachts hat Shuttle ab Werk einen Multi-Kartenleser integriert, der im Test die verschiedenen Medien problemlos verarbeitete. Gegenüber den übrigen Barebones der XPC-Serie wurde ein kräftigeres Netzteil mit einer Ausgangsleistung von 240 Watt installiert. Somit kann das System mit den leistungsfähigsten Komponenten bestückt werden. Für konstante Stromversorgung auf der Platine sorgt ein 3-Phasen-Spannungswandler. In maximaler Ausbaustufe können mit Hilfe des onboard-Serial-ATA-RAID-Controllers (Silicon Image) zwei Festplatten für hohe Datentransferleistung sorgen. Dazu passt noch eine GeForce FX 5900, ein DVD-Brenner - und fertig ist das Mini-Geschoss! (...) Leistung ist Trumpf: Gerade im Zusammenspiel mit einer GeForce FX 5900, 1 GB DDR400-Speicher und einem Athlon 64 3200+ bietet das System so manchem Desktop Paroli.

Fazit: (...) Die Verarbeitungsqualität fällt besonders bei den Mini-PCs von Shuttle sehr hoch aus. Das erste Mini-System für den neuen Athlon 64 ist das XPC SN85G4, welches auf dem NForce-3/150-Chipsatz basiert. Es wurden die bekannten Eigenschaften der übrigen Shuttle-Modelle mit der AMD-Plattform kombiniert. Somit könnte dieses System vor allem als leistungsfähige 3D-Spiele-Plattform herhalten. Shuttle XPC SN85G4: First mini for Athlon 64
While other manufacturers are still working on the finishing touches of their mainboards for the Athlon 64, Shuttle already has comparable mini-bare-bones on offer. As far as workmanship and material appearance are concerned, the system is absolutely identical with that of the XPC for the P4 platform. (...) Instead of the 3.5-inch slot, Shuttle comes factory-installed with a multi-card reader that processed the various media without any problem in testing. This is arguably Shuttle's fastest XPC yet. The combination of a fast chipset and fantastic CPU make it a very attractive proposition to enthusiasts, gamers and power users everywhere. We kind of expected it to be quick. Our initial Athlon 64 Clawhammer coverage indicated that performance was never going to be an issue. (...) The 6-in-1 card reader is a nice touch that's sure to go down well. (...) The nForce3 150 Athlon 64-based chipset is fast, stable yet (...). (...) This XPC could replace almost any home PC. Freunde, er ist endlich da... Shuttle's SN85G4 XPC für die brandneue AMD Athlon 64 CPU, basierend auf dem nVidia nForce3 Chipsatz. Als ob das nicht genug wäre, stellt Shuttle ein brandneues Gehäusedesign vor, welches man an der Endung "G4" erkennt.

Fazit:

Einmal mehr ziehen wir vor Shuttle den Hut, welche dieses System zeitgleich mit AMD's Athlon 64 vorstellen. Es ist beeindruckend, wenn Mini-PC-Systeme genau zeitgleich erscheinen oder sogar früher erscheinen als vergleichbare Desktop Workstations. Ich frage mich selbst, ob ich überhaupt noch einmal zu den großen, alten, beigen Kästen  zurückkehre.
