Installation:
Der Bequemlichkeit und Vollständigkeit halber, ist alles, was man für die Installation benötigt, im Lieferumfang enthalten, vielleicht mit Ausnahme der Schraubenzieher, die man für den Einbau der Laufwerke braucht. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Desktops, wird bei SB61G2 nicht ein gewöhnlicher Kühlkörper verwendet, den man beim Prozessorkauf dazubekommt. Das I.C.E. Kühlsystem ist im wesentlichen eine Kombination aus wärmeführenden Rohrleitungen, die auch als Heatpipes bekannt sind, und dem Kühlkörper. Um die Systeme leise und auf akzeptable Temperatur zu halten, wird die Hitze von einem Punkt zum anderen geleitet. Beispielsweise ist die CPU beim SB61G2 in der Mitte des Gehäuses und die Wärme wird von dort aus ganz nach hinten geleitet - oberhalb der Input/Output-Anschlüsse. Das Mainboard im SB61G2 basiert auf Intels i865G Chipsatz. Somit ist die Hardware gut für Intels neues Flaggschiff, die 3,2GHz CPU, als auch für die besten Grafikkarten. In Verbindung mit der Dual-Channel DDR- Speicherunterstützung, bekommt diese kleine Maschine das Zeug zu einer Rakete. Fazit
Der Shuttle SB61G2 wendet sich an eine große Schar von Anwendern. Mit seinem stilvollen Aussehen paßt es auch ideal in dein Wohnzimmer. Wenn man mit seinen begrenzten Aufrüstmöglichkeiten leben kann, wird die Leistung und geringe Geräuschentwicklung einen schnell überzeugen, wodurch er seinen Platz auf dem Schreibtisch verdienen wird.

This Shuttle retains its space-age expressions by keeping the popular combination of matt-metallic and glossy surface, as well as smooth rounded edges. The acrylic surrounding the buttons provide protection as well as a polished veneer. The overall build quality of the shell looks sharp with its detailed beveled edges and brushed aluminum coating.On the interior, the finishing remains the same quality and all edges are rounded to prevent cuts that the more seasoned users are familiar with from working on the older casings.(...) 

Installation:
To maintain relative ease and for completeness, everything you'll require for the installation has been bundled in, with perhaps the exception of a screwdriver needed for securing the drives. Unlike conventional desktops, the SB61G2 does not use the normal heatsinks you get when you buy your processor off the shelf. The I.C.E. cooling system is essentially a combination of heat-conducting pipes--otherwise known as heatpipes--and heatsinks. To keep systems quiet yet maintain relatively bearable temperatures, heat is actuated from one point to another. In the SB61G2's instance, the heat is moved from the CPU situated in the middle of the case all the way to the rear above the IO (input-output) ports. The SB61G2 comes with a motherboard built on Intel's i865G chipset. So the hardware is good for Intel's new flagship 3.2GHz monster as well as the top-of-the-line graphics accelerators. Together with Dual-Channel DDR (Double Data Rate) memory support, the small machine really has potential to be a rocket. In our tests, the SB61G2's performance easily matched our reference Intel 865G desktop board. The Shuttle SB61G2 appeals very much to a wide range of consumers. With its stylish looks, it'll also sit nicely in your living room. If you can live with the limited expandability, this Shuttle's performance and quietness will easily win you over and earn its place on your desk.

The computer is suitable for all-round use - hard work with multimedia, playing games or watching DVD movies. Fast in straights and in curves. As about the power, the computer is good equipped. All components included in the computer are on the top, what you can see in efficiency tests, playing games or work. In everytime use you do not have to wait for anything, all is done in "real time". Thanks to ATI Radeon 9500 you can also play the latest games. Also watching DVD movies or listening to music is excellent and you can easy connect the PC to your TV. On the whole, you can use digital audio output, FireWire, many USB 2.0 connectors or DVD burning drive.

Alle Komponenten im PC erreichen Spitzenwerte, was effiziente Tests belegen oder man selbst beim Spielen oder Arbeiten feststellen wird. Jede Anwendung läuft verzögerungsfrei wie in "Echt-Zeit" ab.
Dank der neuen ATI Radeon 9500 lassen sich selbst die neuesten Spiele flüssig spielen. Auch das Schauen von DVD-Filmen ist problemlos möglich, und selbst mit dem Fernseher läßt sich der PC ganz einfach verbinden. Es entfalten sich vielfältige Anschlußmöglichkeiten wie zum Beispiel der digitale Audioausgang, Firewire, viele USB 2.0 Schnittstellen oder ein DVD Brenner.

As a matter of fact this very review was delayed a few days because of a LAN party. In the beginning of this week NordicHardware attended and sponsored (Network equipment) one of the world’s largest LAN party’s, DreamHack Summer 2003 in Jönköping Sweden. This year a small sum of approximately 4000 people attended the show and one of them was me myself with this very Shuttle SB61G2. I was very impressed that the system didn’t crash a single time in four days where it was under load most of the time. Even though the ambient temperature was quite high and several other systems had problems in the heat the Shuttle SB61G2 hadn’t. (...)

Shuttle SB61G2 is really one impressive piece of hardware and you might have noticed that we grow quite found if it during our testing. With very good performance, overclocking and more features then you can shake a stick at, all cramped into a puny and stylish looking aluminium chassis its bound to get quite a few fans.

In dem netten ALU-Gehäuse mit gebürsteter ALU-Front steckt das FB61-Mainboard, das gemessen an der Größe einiges zu bieten hat. (...) Natürlich ist auch das neue Shuttle Barebone wieder mit der patentierten Heatpipe Kühlung von Shuttle ausgestattet, und bietet zudem einen PCI und einen AGP8X Anschluss. Der Gehäuse-Airflow reicht aus, um eine Radeon 9800Pro stabil zu betreiben. (...) Im Praxistest gibt sich das kleine System ganz groß. Wie gewohnt von Shuttle, kann man den Gehäusedeckel sehr leicht öffnen. Dafür muss man nur die drei Rändelschrauben lösen. Wenn man den Deckel dann entfernt hat, dann offenbart sich einem ein sehr kompaktes und enges Innenleben, in dem wieder einmal die Heatpipe-Konstruktion ins Auge sticht. (...) Schön ist, dass Shuttle nicht vergessen hat für den SerialATA Anschluss einen passenden Stromadapter beizulegen, denn nicht alle SerialATA Festplatten lassen sich über den normalen und gewohnten Stromstecker versorgen. (...)

Die Leistung für so einen kleinen Würfel ist grandios, wenn man natürlich ein gutes System zusammenbaut. (...) Auch für kleinere Overclocking Spielchen ist der Würfel von Shuttle sehr gut zu gebrauchen. (...)

Viele Performance-Anwender wie ich haben darum gebettelt und gejammert, damit Shuttle eine Highend-Box baut, die höchste Geschwindigkeit und niedrige Lautstärke in der Größe eines XPC-Systems kombiniert. Das SB61G2 ist tatsächlich solch eine Box, so daß Shuttle unsere Gebete mit einer nahezu einwandfreien Implementation des Intel 865G-Chipsatzes erhört hat.
Mit den richtigen Komponenten kannst du wirklich einen PC in der Größe eines Schuhkastens haben, der 98% der Geschwindigkeit des absolut schnellsten Pentium-4-Desktop-Systems hat. Der 865-Chipsatz ist nicht ganz so schnell wie der Intel 875P/Canterwood, aber der Performance-Unterschied ist so, so gering, daß es fast nicht der Erwähnung wert ist. Solange ein 800MHz FSB Pentium 4 Prozessor und ein Paar gute DDR400-Speicher eingesetzt werden, ist die 865/Springdale Plattform eine extrem schnelle und extrem reibungslose Mainboard-Plattform. Shuttle hat eine gute Wahl getroffen, indem es den Springdale-Chipsatz vor Canterwood vorgezogen hat, weil die Geschwindigkeit ziemlich gleich ist, aber die Kosten mit 20-40 Dollar deutlich geringer sind. Shuttle ist zur Zeit die einzige Wahl für ein Highend-Mini-PC-System für Pentium 4. (...) Ein Lob an Shuttle dafür, daß es seiner Kunden-Basis zuhört und ein Produkt liefert, das genau das leistet, was die Leute haben wollen.

The Final Word
(...) Many performance users such of me have begged and whined for a high-end Shuttle box which combined high-performance and low noise into the dimensions of an XPC system. The SB61G2 is indeed such a box, as Shuttle has answered our prayers with a near flawless implementation of the Intel 865-G series chipset. 
With the right components, you really can have a shoe-boxed sized PC with 98% of the performance level of an absolute top of the line Pentium 4 desktop. The 865 chipset just isn't as quite as fast as an Intel 875P / Canterwood system will be, but the performance difference is so, so small, the difference is almost not even worth talking about. As long as you use an 800 MHz FSB Pentium 4 processor and a couple good sticks of DDR-400 memory, the 865/Springdale platform makes for an extremely fast, extremely smooth motherboard platform. Shuttle made the correct choice going with Springdale versus Canterwood, as the performance is still there but the cost is lowered significantly (#20-#40). (...)

Shuttle is your only choice for a high-end SFF Pentium 4 system at this time. (...) Kudos to Shuttle for listening to their customer base and delivering a product which is dead on accurate with what people wanted.
