CNET: "Small but ultra-powerful gaming PC"

"Fantastic looks and performance," cite the British website CNET the Shuttle XPC P 2500G after having had a close at it. Promising "performance in line with the fastest, largest gaming desktops," the editors were about to find out, if it does live up to these expectations.

"The Shuttle XPC P 2500G doesn't subscribe to the belief that gaming PCs have to live in enormous, gaudy cases," stated the testers. This SFF-PC is "the refreshing alternative to the rash of boy-racer desktops that litter the desktop PC market," they continued.

The "very compact" chassis design houses latest technologies. The Shuttle XPC P 2500G is dubbed "extremely fast" thanks to the built-in ATI Radeon X1900 XTX graphics card and an "awesome" AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 CPU. So no wonder that the editors found praise for it once powered on, when they wrote: "Gaming performance was also impressive for a PC using a single graphics card."

Furthermore, it features a 8-in-1 card reader and lots of i/o jacks. Among other connectors there are six USB and two FireWire-ports plus PS/2-ports for mouse and keyboard available.

One might expect enormous temperatures from a high-end gaming PC like this. But the Shuttle XPC P 2500G makes you think again, since the editors pointed out: "temperature and power was well regulated and it was reliable in use." All managed despite having an internal 350W power supply and lots of "extremely fast" high performance components abord.

Conclusion:

"If you want a gaming PC that doesn't look like it was created with boy racers in mind, Shuttle's small, sleek but hugely powerful XPC P 2500G desktop is just the ticket. The cramped interior means there's little room to upgrade, but if you want a tiny box with the latest components in, it's hard to beat."
