Compatibility Approval for HD4850/HD4870 Graphics Cards
Shuttle has announced that many of its current XPC Mini-PCs have already been approved for the new ATI Radeon HD4850 and HD4870 graphics cards (see table below) and are now also available in its Shuttle Systems Configurator for Complete Systems. With advanced 55-nm technology, fewer transistors, high-clocked DDR5 memory (in the HD4870), DirectX-10.1 support and improved GPU architectural details, AMD has again made its claim for the technological leadership in the race for the fastest graphics processor.
The new innovations have dramatically increased the computer processing power per watt over the previous model and the new HD4000 graphics card generation (code description RV770) has received a warm welcome both from games enthusiasts and the trade press not least due to the favourable price/performance ratio at market introduction. The ATI Catalyst graphics driver version 8.7 from 21.7.08 is the first final driver with the WHQL Certificate for ATI Radeon HD4850/HD4870 graphics cards available for Windows XP/Vista (32/64 bit). This offers improved stability and performance in relation to the temporary Hotfix drivers that were previously supplied.
