Shuttle XPCs still available with Windows XP thanks to the Windows Vista Downgrade Program

End of the sale of Windows XP

Microsoft is ending sales of Windows XP in the retail version and the award of licenses via the large PC manufacturers. End-users can only purchase Windows XP in the market for as long as stocks last. Customer service will be maintained until April 2009 and security updates will continue until April 2014. If customers want to use Windows XP, then this will be possible from 1.7.08 to 31.1.09 through the Windows Vista Downgrade Program. The Windows Vista Downgrade Program
Shuttle's Windows Vista OEM license entitles the customer to a downgrade to Windows XP. This means that Shuttle customers purchase a Shuttle PC system with a license for Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate and can then switch the operating system to Windows XP Professional. In this case Shuttle will help its customers take up their downgrade rights by delivering Windows XP Professional on-request pre-installed on the new Shuttle PC. This means a great added-value because the customer can start with Windows XP and then later use the benefits of Windows Vista without having to pay any extra for this.

License Conditions

  • The customer purchases a Shuttle PC System with a Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate OEM-License with Recovery DVD. This license is tied to the delivered hardware. The relevant COA (Certificate of Authority) license sticker is located on the underside of the PC.
  • The customer and Shuttle as an OEM are entitled to implement a downgrade onto Windows XP Professional. This operating system version is complete and has no time restrictions in its use.
  • If the customer should want to implement the downgrade installation himself, then he requires an original Windows XP Professional Installation CD. This can for example be a Shuttle OEM Recovery CD or an available retail version. In the case of a retail version, a renewed product activation cannot be done online or via the internet. In this case the customer should contact the free activation hotline and explain the background to the downgrade.
  • The customer may later return to Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate depending on his license.
  • Prior to the switch the previous operating system must be deleted from the hard disk. A dual-boot installation is not admissible with only one license.
  • For Windows Vista Home and Windows Vista Home Premium there are no downgrade rights.
