Translation:

  • well equipped
  • low price
  • brilliant overclocking features
  • DDR400 runs perfectly with fastest timings
  • 4GB memory runs stable
  • keepout area not restricted
  • passive northbridge cooler = silent
  • functioning power off on CPU overheating
  • SPDIF connector for enjoying DVD
  • perfect BIOS settings

Recommended Award
I wasn't expecting the Shuttle AK37GTR to perform as well as it did. In fact I was quite surprised by its performance. It looks like Shuttle has yet again continued its award winning streak with the AK37GTR. All 3D benchmarks produce very good scores and memory performance, when overclocked using DDR400 ram was excellent.

Great news for overclockers ... this board is excellent. The BIOS is great and has a wealth of options for adjusting FSB, Multipliers, ratios/dividers not to mention voltage adjustments for CPU, DDR, AGP an chipset. I mean overclocking an unlocked Athlon XP2000+ to 1.8Ghz (180x10) that's equivalent to a XP2200+ isn't bad ... is it ?

With extra features such as onboard LAN, audio and Serial-ATA, the Shuttle AK37GTR can compete with the likes of Asus and MSI. But that's not all ... there's also USB 2.0, HighPoint ATA-133 Raid and 4 DDR dimm slots allow upto 4Gb to be installed. (...)

Final words: Shuttle AK37 GTR is a great overclocking board that offers most of the features found on bigger brands like Asus and MSI. It offers great value for money with performance to match.

+ VIA KT400 + VT8235 chipset
+ DDR 400 technology
+ Very good performance
+ Onboard USB 2.0 and Audio
+ Onboard 10/100 LAN
+ HighPoint ATA-133 Raid
+ Serial-ATA
+ x8 AGP slot
+ Great overclocking features

(...) the Shuttle AK37 GT/R is an impressive motherboard whichever way you look at it. It looks good, is loaded with features, and has a BIOS that even the most die-hard overclockers can relate to. Having 2.85v available for system RAM and a mind-numbing 2.4v available for the CPU, makes it something of a tweaker's delight. On-board RAID, courtesy of the capable Highpoint HPT372 controller, together with Serial ATA support make it one of the best for managing your hard drive situation. Decent on-board sound, on-board LAN, and 6 USB2.0 ports round off an impressive specification list. The inclusion of Firewire support would have been a nice bonus, though. (...) if they keep producing motherboards that are as stable, feature-rich, and tweakable as this one, they may just join the upper echelons of motherboard world in a year or two. Recommended.

+ Extremely stable during days of testing
+ Feature-packed with a decent layout
+ Decent performance in DDR333 mode.
+ Ready for the next iteration of Athlon XP processors by having a 5:1 FSB:PCI divider in BIOS.
+ Extremely adjustable BIOS with a CPU-frying 2.4v on tap
+ IDE and S-ATA RAID are decent extras
