All socket A XPC-mainboards and all other current socket A mainboards are equipped with integrated hardware CPU proof that powers off the computer if overheated. This is done by an Attansic-chip that monitors the temperature diode of the Athlon XP processor and shuts down the power supply, if temperature reaches a critical level. This technique is based on hardware only and cannot be deactivated unlike BIOS or software controlled solutions. This excellent protection gives you extra security for processor and system. After power off, the cooling system and fan will have to be checked. The system can be turned on again afterwards. This protection does not relieve the user from careful handle with the cooling system, because a protection of 100% can never be guaranteed.
