In 2000, the team of Turtle Entertainment introduced the Electronic Sports League (ESL) to the German speaking community. It has more than 450.000 active members and is therefore the biggest eSports-league in Europe.
The system is multilingual and very flexible. It supports all multiplayer games available, starting with online Chess and Tetris as well as FIFA, WarCraft and CounterStrike. The league is the home for all types of gamers: casual gamers, amateurs and pro gamers.
The community is growing with more than 10.000 new users per month. The ESL is structured into four different segments for all types of multiplayer games. In the national part of the ESL, players and teams play their favourite games on the level they choose. Only the best players of the ESL get to play in the national teams. Players can also compete within the international leagues. The ESL features the European Championships, the so called ENC.
