Expanding Mini and Slim PCs with wireless LAN (Wi-Fi)
Are you looking to network your PCs wirelessly, without cables but with pleasantly high transfer rates? A new device is now available for many Shuttle Mini and Slim PCs. The "WLN-C" and "WLN-S" WLAN kit enables Shuttle’s compact PCs to connect to wireless networks in the 2.4 GHz frequency range. Its twin antennas help to increase transfer speeds, as data are transmitted in parallel. As the attachment is fitted inside the PC, it does not take up a USB port. This solution means, therefore, that no annoying external attachment, which is liable to be mistakenly mislaid or damaged, needs to be plugged in on the outside.
Both WLN variants work to IEEE 802.11b/g/n standards and can transfer up to 300 Mbit/s. The kits comprise a WLAN card for the Mini-PCI-Express slot, two antennas, two antenna cables and corresponding installation elements. The only difference between the two variants is the length of the (pigtail) connection cable between antenna and network card. WLN-C (for Mini PCs) and WLN-S (for Slim PCs) are available now.
