XPC SB51G

Conclusion: I was very pleased with the overall performance and ergonomic aspect of this unit. There were really no drawbacks to the system as far as how well it ran or its stability which are the lifeblood of a solid PC. In the final judgment I think these little things are going to catch on quite well in the retail market due to their overall effectiveness and size. Shuttle did a good job bringing this product to the table and it deserves an Editors Choice award for its achievements. Good job Shuttle (...)

Ohne Zweifel müssen wir diesen beiden Mini-PC's die Auszeichnung geben. Flex-ATX und Mini-ITX sind dieses Jahr ziemliche Highlights und viele Leute wechseln zu einem kleinen, leisen Rechner. Während VIA mit ihrer EPIA-Serie ein gutes Produkt geschaffen haben und Firmen wie Lian Li Mini-ITX-Gehäuse anbieten, bekommt Shuttle doch den Preis verliehen wegen ihrer All-in-one-Lösung, die überall zum Blickfang wurde. Sogar die Highend-PCs-Fans sind auf diesen Zug aufgesprungen und das SS51G scheint von vielen das Lieblingsmodell zu sein. Sie werden hoffentlich noch mehr von ihrer nForce2-Version verkaufen! Einzigartig ist auch die Größe des Cubes, der bei Bedarf in jeder kleinen Nische versteckt werden kann, dies aber eigentlich nicht notwendig ist, da das Design durch den edlen Aluminium-Look sehr gut gelungen ist. Zusätzlich bietet es eine Menge an Features, wie USB 2.0, Firewire, usw. und besitzt dazu noch eine ausgefeilte Kühltechnik, die den Lüfter automatisch herunterdrosselt und trotzdem das Übertakten sehr gut ermöglicht. Da kommen wir auch schon zum einzigen Kritikpunkt. Die Overclocking-Features sind mehr als mager (...) - dazu muss aber gesagt werden, dass der Haupteinsatzbereich des Shuttle SB51G woanders liegt. 

Positive Punkte am Shuttle SB51G :
+ Hervorragende Ausstattung mit Sound, LAN, Firewire und Grafik
+ Gute Office-Performance
+ Gute Verarbeitung und Qualität
+ Sehr schönes Design
+ AGP-Slot

Wofür man den kleinen Kraftprotz verwendet, ist jedem selbst überlassen - mit einer schwächeren CPU und integrierter Grafik kann er als DSL-Server agieren oder als Office PC eingesetzt werden, auch ist er geeignet als DVD-Player mit Internetanbindung am Fernseher. Wer ein LAN-Profi ist, der kann den PC-Zwerg mit einer richtigen AGP-Karte ausrüsten und mit einem leistungsstarken CPU betreiben - die Luxus-Variante wäre ein 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 mit Radeon 9700 Pro. All das ist kein Problem - und deshalb erhält der schicke PC unseren Excellence-Award!

Conclusion: The Mini-PC is surely a feast for the eyes - and it can very well be used as office PC or as DVD player de luxe beside the TV. However, the gaming performance with the internal graphics is weak (...) but Shuttle also think of the gaming peoples and has added an AGP slot. Thus, the Shuttle barebone system is also very suitable for a LAN party and will certainly be a good eye-catcher. Equipped with a modern graphics card it is also up-to-date for a long time. It is another plus that the performance is equal to other modern highend PCs.

The smallness an unique feature of the cube, too. Is can be hidden in any niche if you want, but this is not really neccessary because the noble aluminum case is very well designed. In addition, it offers a lot of features e.g. USB 2.0, Firewire, etc. It also integrates a good developed cooling system. The fan will automatically be slowed down and it even allows overclocking very well. Here we come to the only weak point: there are very few overclocking features (...) but we also must say, that overclocking is not the main application for the Shuttle SB51G.

Positive Features of Shuttle SB51G :

You can decide self, for which purpose you use this muscleman - it can be used as DSL server or office PC in connection with a weaker CPU, even possible as DVD player with Internet-TV. LAN-people may put highend AGP card and powerful CPU in it - the de-lux-version is currently a 3.06 GHz Pentium 4 with Radeon 9700 Pro. All this is no Problem and therefore this stylish PC obtains our Excellence-Award !

Summary: We remember the first XPC we had recieved from Shuttle and the sole purpose of that was to make it look good. Shuttle kept working on the XPC and improved it's designing and functionality, however, performance was still not as good as a regular motherboard. With the SB51G, Shuttle has improved the performance of the XPC to compete with a regular motherboards- meaning you now have a slick looking PC with great functionality and awesome performance. Die Schnittstellenausstattung des schicken Würfels läßt kaum Wünsche offen (...) Wer es bunt mag, bekommt (...) farbige Blenden (...) recht praktisch ist der in den 3,5"-Schacht passende Card-Reader (...) Für den stilechten Transport des PC bietet Shuttle eine Tragebox an (...) Im Inneren ist der Würfel solide aufgebaut (...) Die recht aufwendige Prozessorkühlung via Heatpipe ermöglicht es Shuttle, einen langsam drehenden geregelten 80-mm-Lüfter einzusetzen (...) Im Normalbetrieb erzeugte unser Testmuster einen Lärmpegel von akzeptablen 3,1 Sone. (...) Im Vergleich zu anderen leistungsfähigen Kompaktsystemen ist der Shuttle XPC SB51G ein recht leiser Gesell. Nice little packet in pretty cube format - compact but still powerful!

This stylish cube offers almost  all connectors you can think of. (...) Those who like it colorful can get colored front faces (...) praktically is the card reader which fits in the 3.5" bay (...) suitable to the XPC style Shuttle offers a carry bag for it (...) the box has a solid internal design (...) Thanks to the processor cooling system with heatpipe Shuttle manage to cool it with a temperature-controlled slow 80mm fan (...) under normal conditions it cause a noise of acceptable 3.1 Sone. (...) In comparison to other powerful systems, the Shuttle XPC SB51G is pretty silent. Thanks to the wide range of accessories you can modify the optical appearance from plain-stylish to a colorful future trend design, and this makes it interessent for many people (...)

getestet wurde das Komplettsystem Mininova 3066 von PC-Spezialist basierend auf Shuttle's XPC SB51G.

Testurteil: Höchstleistung auf engstem Raum bietet der silberfarbene Miniatur-PC. Das interessante und ungewöhnliche Design erlaubt auch, den Rechner getrost im Wohnzimmer unterzubringen.

...wirklich ein Winzling. (...) Intels Top-CPU, 1 GB schneller DDR-Arbeitsspeicher und eine Profi-Grafikkarte verhalfen dem PC zu sehr guten Ergebnissen in den Grafik- und Multimedia-Benchmarks. Bei den Office-Anwendungen sind nur Raid-Systeme schneller. Dazu ist der PC ein echter Hingucker: Eingescshaltet leuchtet die Front des kleinen Alu-Gehäuses in weichem Hellblau. (...) Die Ausstattung ist auch für ein Gerät der obersten Preisklasse gut. (...) Die Verarbeitung des Systems war okay, auch die in einem so engen Gehäuse kritische Kabelführung gab kein Anlaß zur Kritik. Die Geräuschentwicklung war mit 1,3 Sone angenehm gering (...)

With Intels top processor, 1 GB memory and the Highend graphics card the system obtains very good results in our graphics- and multimedia-benchmarks. (...) The noise was pleasantly quiet at 1.3 Sone.
