Mainboard AV30

Shuttle has become the first to supply us with a non-beta revisions of VIA's Pro266 chipset.

The AV30 dominates in all the tests but one, classifying as the best platform in pure benchmarks (...) You can set many parameters manually, and this makes the AV30 a good product if you're trying to overclock your system.

Overall: The Spacewalker AV30 is yet another superb Shuttle motherboard offering for a competitive price point. Overclocking support, a multitude of integrated features, and the addition of the AGP retention clip lends to this board's overall positive appeal.

Overall we were very pleased with the Shuttle AV30 (...) we can shole heartedly recommend the Shuttle AV30 to anyone contemplating a new motherboard purchase. If you're looking for an excellent performing motherboard packed full of features, you can't go wrong with the Shuttle AV30.

Faster than Intel's i815E and strong in bandwidth intensive applications like Viewperf. Shuttle have done a great job in trying to bring one of the first DDR Pentium III solutions to market with a very good expansion slot configuration and layout, good BIOS optimizations.

a perfectly stabile running board (...) AV30 is the first incarnation of VIA Apollo Pro266 that hits the market, but from what we saw, it raises pretty high the expectations from other mainboards. Flawless design and integrated features makes this mainboard an excellent choice for both power-users and system integrators.

Shuttle surprised us by introducing 1 MHz increments in BIOS and Vcore voltage adjustment. BIOS allows 100MHz to 166MHz settings and 0.05V increments. There are also available memory settings like 2 or 2.5 CAS latency, DRAM Bank Interleaving and DRAM Command Rate.

Als Besonderheit nutzt das AV30 die in der VT8233 Southbridge eingebaute Netzwerkkarte (...) das BIOS bietet umfangreiche Tuningmöglichkeiten. So lassen sich Vcore, Vio und der FSB im BIOS verändern. (...) Handbuch ist sehr umfangreich und gut gelungen. (...) Sehr positiv ist, daß rund um den Sockel keinerlei Bauteile sind und auch größte Kühler nicht blockiert werden. Auch gut gelungen ist die Anordnung des ATX Powersteckers (...)

Overall, the quality of the AV30 is excellent, no doubt about it. (... it) can bring out the highest clock speed of a PIII at top stability.

AV30: Auffälligstes Merkmal des AV30 ist die integrierte Netzwerkfunktion. Positiv sind weiterhin die 6 PCI-Slots, die Platz für viele Komponenten bieten. Bei den Benchmarks erreicht das Board gute Ergebnisse.

AV32: ...verarbeitet sowohl SDRAM- als auch DDR-SDRAM. Positiv fällt die Kunststoffhalterung für die AGP-Grafikkarte auf, die ein Herausrutschen der Grafikkarte wirksam verhindert. Der Bustakt läßt sich (wie bei AV30 auch) in 1MHz-Schritten von 100 bis 166MHz einstellen.
