Computer Active: "Perfectly capable of running office applications"

The British computer magazine Computer Active recently had a peak on Shuttle's "smallest PC to date" assuring that the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA "will suit those who want a small, quiet computer."

Having unwrapped the package, a design with the "same footprint as an A4 sheet of paper" came to light. A closer look on the unit reveals a lot of connectors and features such as a "slot-loading DVD writer, power button and a single USB port. Round the back sit four more USB ports, a FireWire socket, audio connections and an Ethernet port."

Conclusion: "If you're simply looking for a small, quiet computer to stick in a study, the mini X 100HA will no doubt appeal."

For wireless networking the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA boasts an integrated W-LAN module. Being design as a SFF PC that should find a home in the living room environment, the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA is "perfectly capable of running office applications, basic image editing and the like."

Under the hood sits an Intel Core Duo processor accompanied with ATI's Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics engine. "A 200GB hard disk sits inside the case and provides ample space for storing video, music and other media files," add the editors. As one might expect from a living room or a PC in the office, the "Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA is whisper-quiet," thanks to its external 120 W power supply. If there is need to get the specifications upgraded, it is possible "to improve on the processor, memory or hard disk, you can configure your own mini X 100HA on the Shuttle website," explains Computer Active.
