Gear: "More flexibility, oomph and speed"
This is what the editors of the Danish gadgets and lifestyle magazine Gear concluded after having compared the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA to one of its competitors.
The mini PC from Shuttle scored in terms of "stylish design, low noise operation and reasonable performance."
"A PC for the desk" with a "size of an A4 sheet of paper" is what Shuttle has introduced. The Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA banks on technology as it can be found in notebook and arrived at the test labs of Gear with an Intel Core Duo processor, 512MB of RAM, 200GB hard disk and ATI Radeon Mobility X1400. The latter even "barely manages to run 3D games at highest resolution," writes Gear.
The Shuttle unit "is good not only in terms of design, but also the possibility to add a standard 3,5 inch hard disk is practical," explain the editors. That's definitely a plus," according to Gear.
Having plugged in and switched on the device, it turned out to be "a computer for internet application, music and general PC needs" exactly what the Shuttle XPC mini X 100HA was designed for. Moreover, the unit impressed the editors with its low noise level. "You won't notice any roaring fans during operation. That is excellent."
In the end, the X 100 provides "more flexibility, oomph and speed" than a competitive product. The fundamental question is left up to the users: "Mac or Windows."
Pros:
- Stylish design
- Low noise operation
- Reasonable performance
