In a roundup of 14 barebone models published in the German computer magazine "Chip Test & Kauf" (issue May 2004), Shuttle took the first two places.
Among 8 other competitors, Shuttle took the top honors with the XPC RefleXion, the 20th anniversary edition XPC. In second
place was the XPC SB75G2. Shuttle was represented with further four barebones which were all ranked in the Top 10.
With a total rating of 94 % the SB61G2 RefleXion lays ahead. Regarding equipment and manual the full rating of 100 % was reached. "The Shuttle barebone looks good and shows no real flaws. (...) In operation very quiet, additionally a luxury equipment", the editors added enthusiastically.
Moreover, the good 5.1 sound and the high connectivity of the carefree-package have also been praised. "Only 1,9 idle resp. 2,4 Sone under full load" let the Shuttle RefleXion XPC almost reach the highest rating. For getting started quickly, "detailed manuals" are included in the package. "Everything is described down to the last detail, so you can set up the system very easy," stated the editors. "(...) according the current state of the art, the Taiwanese manufacturer services the best draft with the fewest flaws," concluded the editors.
Closely to the RefleXion on the second place, the SB75G2 reached a total rating of 90 %. A good value for money and best ratings of 100% in the categories "performance" and "documentation" justify the second place.

Keine Schwächen zeigen, cool rüberkommen und bei irgendwas richtig gut sein, das ist das Eisen, auf dem Sieger geschmiedet sind.
Der RefleXion glänzt vor allem durch seine Ausstattung. (...) Man bekommt [für sein Geld] ein Rundum-Sorglos-Paket: Sei es die abgestimmte Farbe von DVD-Drive and Cardreader, sei es das Wireless LAN für den kabellosen Netzwerkanschluss oder die praktische Tragetasche. (...) Zudem weiss der RefleXion in puncto Leistung zu gefallen - und vor allem bei der Laufruhe. (...) Fazit gesamt:

Dieser Test bekam mit dem Shuttle XPC SB61G2 RefleXion einen würdigen Sieger. Überhaupt merkt man es den XPC Würfeln an, das Shuttle den Job schon ein Weilchen macht. (...) Aber sie liefern das rundeste Konzept mit den wenigsten Schwächen und wissen, wie man mögliche Stolpersteine umgeht (...).

Fazit SB61G2 Reflexion:

Super ausgestattet, leistungsstark und trotzdem recht leise, so wünschen wir uns einen coolen Mini-Barebone.

(...) Shuttle rolled out the red carpet with the design of the 20th Anniversary XPC. The excellent combination of features and styling have resulted in the Cadillac of the SFF market. (...) If you want all the bells and whistles that Shuttle has to offer, the Reflexion XPC has it all. Each user will have to decide on their own what features they need and how it fits into their budget. If you've decided that the 20th Anniversary XPC is the system to have, hold your horses. It is a "Limited Edition" for a reason. Only 1600 units are planned for the U.S. market which potentially forces the price higher but also adds to the coolness factor of owning one. (...)  The choice really comes down to: do you need everything a Cadillac has to offer? If not, at least the product is out there to set the tone for the SFF market to follow.

If you can use all the features that it brings to (or on top of) the table, it's pretty damn hot.

The new Small Form Factor and versatility of connection are plus of new computers that make it a good complement of a television. We analysed 4 new systems. In the introduction we explained the new way of making PC with SFF (we cited Shuttle as the pioneer of this kind of PC). We say that barebone systems are a good solution for making a cheap system for buying components separately. We have also a box with new solution from Shuttle (Zen) (...). In the article we analise also the efficiency of thermal dissipation using Heat Pipe Systems. In the specific review we state in the title: it's advanced and it has a some good optionals.
