AWARD Bios-Update HOT-553 Mainboard =================================== This file may not be up to date. We are not liable for any damages caused by the bios-update. Attention - read carefully!!!! ============================== Instructions for Bios-Update to version 0A: 1) Do not update bios, if EPROM is manufactured by Intel. You can recognize the typ of flash eprom by removing the AWARD-label from the eprom. "i" stand for "Intel". Since Intel flash EPROMs on HOT-553 have a write-protected boot-block, you cannot update a higher version than 553WUQ07 by flash programming. Flash EPROM = Intel (i) -> Bios Version: 553WUQ07 suggested Flash EPROM = MX, SST, Winbond,... -> no problem If you want to program the 553WUQ0D bios version on HOT-553 and you have an Intel-Flash-EPROM on your mainboard then you have to use a hardware programming machine, because it's not possible by flash update. 2) Programming voltage for Flash-EPROM depends on manufacturer: 12V -> Jumper 9 Pin 2-3 closed (MX and Intel) 5V -> Jumper 9 Pin 1-2 closed 3) Make sure that Password-setting is disabled in Bios-Setup. 4) Start DOS, but without any memory manager (e.g. EMM386.EXE) 5) Start program by entering: AFLH52B The depends on the I/O-Chip (U3) of the onboard-controller 553WUQ0D.BIN UMC-I/O-Chip 553WSQ0A.BIN SMC-I/O-Chip Make bios update with any ISA-VGA-Card, if old Bios-Version makes trouble with PnP. 6) After programming flash EPROM switch off system for a short time. 7) Load Bios-Default setting. Version 05 ============== This version can also used with Intel-Chip-Flash-EPROM in order to update an older bios version.
